Ortac_Sarsat is a Windows PC program that receives and decodes both 1st and 2nd generation COSPAS-SARSAT beacons.
RFBits Ortac_SarSat is intended for educational and personal use only. There is no guarantee that the software works or cannot damage your data or hardware. This software must not be used for any purpose that might have causal life-threatening consequences due to failure or error.
Both the 1st and 2nd generation decoders have now successfully decoded live RF signals from actual beacons.
It is considered that this program has a use at Seaports and Airports, where it could be used to monitor local accidental activations of beacons and hence could help in cancelling false alerts.

COSPAS-SARSAT is a satellite-based monitoring system that detects and locates emergency beacons. Professional operators then notify search-and-rescue (SAR) authorities.

Ortac_SarSat will presently operate with the following hardware: –
- SdrPlay RSPs
- RTL2832u USB radios.
- Ettus Research USPRs
